Combatting domestic violence in Italy

Founded in 2008, D.i.Re is the first Italian Association that gathers the 65 independent women’s centres and shelters against violence in Italy.
D.i.Re intends to coordinate and promote activities in order to start and facilitate a cultural change on violence against women in Italian society. The main idea of cultural change is based on men’s violence against women, gender differences and traditional ideas of family and society, still present today, and of inequality and differences in power between men and women in Italian society. D.i.Re intends to analyse these cultural elements in an attempt to modify the perception of violence itself in society.

On 14 November 2013, François-Henri Pinault jointly signed a new Charter in Milan with Titti Carrano, Chairwoman of D.i.Re. With the aim of raising the Group’s employees’ knowledge and awareness of domestic violence, the Kering Foundation and D.i.Re decided to train employees based in Italy so they in turn can support potential victims encountered in both their professional and private lives.
